AUSTIN, TX — A cross stolen from Armenian church in Baghdad has been recovered in Austin Texas according to a report by Time Warner news channel.

The silver cross had mysteriously made its way to a pawn shop in Florida, where a curious employee asked UT Austin linguistic professor Miharn Aroian to translate the inscription on the back.

The inscription reads, “Serop Ohanian gifts to the Holy Virgin Mary Armenian church 1945 Baghdad”.

The pawn shop agreed to send the cross to the Armenian church in Austin where it resides until it can be sent back to its rightful owner in Iraq.
