Tigran Mukuchian, chairman of the Central Election Commission, announces first official results of parliamentary elections
YEREVAN — Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) counted 55 percent of votes (1055 of 1,982 electoral precincts) as of 5:00 a.m. after parliament elections. The results are as follows:
Republican Party of Armenia 46.23% (201,237)
Prosperous Armenia Party 30.72% (130081)
Armenian National Congress 6.03% (39,472)
ARF Dashnaktsutyun 5.71% (37,416)
Orinats Yerkir 4.92% (33,265)
Heritage 4.76% (31,168)
Communist Party of Armenia 0,97% (6,367)
Democratic Party of Armenia 0.31% (2,038)
United Armenians Party 0.19% (1,229)
Eight political parties and one bloc participated in the parliament elections in Armenia: Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, Armenian National Congress, Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party. For entering a 131-seat National Assembly (Parliament), parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocs – over 7%.
