FRESNO — Journal of the Society for Armenian Studies (JSAS) Editors-in-Chief Houri Berberian (Chancellor’s Professor of History and Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in Armenian Studies at UC Irvine) and Talinn Grigor (Professor of Art and Architectural History at UC Davis), along with Book Review Editor Tsolin Nalbantian (Associate Professor of Modern Middle East History at Leiden University), have been reappointed by the Society for Armenian Studies for an additional two-year term, 2027-2028, to continue their collaborative efforts with ongoing excellence, dedication, and rigor.
“The JSAS was founded in 1984 and is the premier academic journal in the field of Armenian Studies,” said SAS President Barlow Der Mugrdechian. “Under the leadership of co-editors Berberian and Grigor, the JSAS will continue to flourish.”
The Journal of the Society for Armenian Studies will publish its second special issue commemorating SAS’s 50th anniversary (Vol. 31, 2026) in November, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Press (UNP): https://nebraskapressjournals.unl.edu/journal/journal-of-the-society-for-armenian-studies/. UNP has served as the publisher for several prominent scholarly journals for over twenty years, covering disciplines such as Native American studies, women’s studies, literature, regional studies, and additional fields.
JSAS publishes peer-reviewed scholarship from all disciplinary and comparative perspectives relating to Armenians and the field of Armenian Studies. Committed to making the field relevant to a broad interdisciplinary audience, it aims to foster new directions in the field, encouraging global, cross-cultural, and multidisciplinary submissions that align with cutting-edge scholarly research across periods and research areas.
JSAS, accessible electronically via Project MUSE, will continue publishing research articles, book reviews, and review essays. Each issue will feature a cover design derived from one of its articles. Beginning in 2027, JSAS will additionally include forums dedicated to critical discussions on selected topics within Armenian Studies.
