The World Council of Churches (WCC) has expressed deep concern over the situation surrounding the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The WCC said that, as a worldwide fellowship of churches, it reaffirms the important role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the spiritual, cultural and historical life of the Armenian people, as well as within the global Christian community.

“We express concern regarding undue interference in the internal affairs of the Church,” the statement said.

The Council expressed hope that the current conflict will be resolved in a manner that contributes to the well-being of the Armenian people as a whole.

“We stand in prayer and solidarity with the Armenian Church and its people during this difficult period,” the statement concluded.
