YEREVAN — The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute is hosting its annual educational training program for American teachers on the Armenian Genocide from July 12 to 18.
Organized by the U.S.-based Genocide Education Project (GenEd) in cooperation with the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, the program is being held for the fifth time since its launch in 2022.
As part of the program, researchers from the museum-institute deliver lectures and organize guided tours and discussions aimed at deepening participants’ knowledge and understanding of the history and consequences of the Armenian Genocide.
The program addresses the emergence of a genocidal environment in the Ottoman Empire, genocide denial and its contemporary manifestations, the importance of historical memory, and the preservation of Armenian culture and identity.
Another important component of the program is the exchange of professional experience among participants. The American teachers discuss methods of teaching the Armenian Genocide, opportunities for developing educational projects, and modern pedagogical approaches to presenting historical events.
Now in its fifth consecutive year, the program helps strengthen cooperation between the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and educational institutions abroad. It also supports efforts to establish the Armenian Genocide as an integral part of global history and collective memory.
