TEHRAN — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran after attending the official farewell ceremony for the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei.
Pashinyan once again expressed his condolences over Khamenei’s death, emphasizing that Armenia shares the grief of the Iranian people.
President Pezeshkian thanked Prime Minister Pashinyan for traveling to Tehran to take part in the official farewell ceremony. He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran highly appreciates the position adopted by the Armenian government and the humanitarian support shown to Iran during a difficult period.
Pezeshkian also congratulated Pashinyan on his victory in the parliamentary elections and expressed confidence that bilateral relations between Armenia and Iran will continue to develop and strengthen consistently.
The sides also exchanged views on issues of regional importance, emphasizing the need for consistent steps aimed at strengthening peace, stability and regional cooperation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pashinyan attended the official farewell ceremony for Ali Khamenei at the Mosallah Mosque in Tehran. He conveyed his condolences to President Masoud Pezeshkian, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and members of Khamenei’s family.
During the ceremony, Pashinyan paid tribute to Khamenei’s memory and made an entry in the book of condolences.
