YEREVAN — The Government of Armenia has approved a state-supported pilot program aimed at expanding access to high-performance computing resources for the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, in cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The initiative will be implemented within the framework of the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute and represents one of the strategic priorities of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia.
The pilot program is designed to support AI startups, research groups, educational institutions, and individual specialists by providing access to advanced computing resources required for the design, training, and deployment of AI systems. Beyond supporting individual projects, the initiative aims to foster the sustainable, long-term development of Armenia’s high-tech ecosystem in line with the government’s AI and innovation policy.
Launched by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute serves as an open platform for innovation and collaboration, supporting technology companies and researchers throughout the full cycle of research and product development. Within the scope of the pilot program, the Institute will act as the operational hub, responsible for accepting applications, verifying applicants, and allocating computing resources. It will also function as a virtual collaboration space for AI innovators.
Under the program, state support will be provided in the form of a subsidy to AWS, covering 100 percent of the cost of computing resources actually used by a limited number of selected beneficiaries. In addition, AWS will offer technical expert support by engaging solution architects and sharing international best practices.
The initiative is further supported by international partners Mistral AI and Plug and Play, strengthening the program’s innovation-driven and collaborative components.
Registration for applications will open on December 29 via the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute’s platform at ai.gov.am.
