YEREVAN — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the two discussed issues related to the Armenia-U.S. strategic partnership, as well as topics on the regional agenda.

The Prime Minister briefed Secretary Rubio on the negotiation processes that led to the agreement on the draft treaty titled “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations Between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.” He emphasized that the draft agreement is now ready to be signed.

According to the source, both sides agreed to continue high-level Armenia-U.S. dialogue.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio had already congratulated Armenia and Azerbaijan on concluding negotiations on the peace treaty and emphasized that the time has come to sign and ratify the agreement.

“This is an opportunity for both countries to turn the page on decades of conflict, in line with President Trump’s vision for a more peaceful world. Now is the time to commit to peace, sign and ratify the treaty, and usher in a new era of prosperity for the people of the South Caucasus,” stated an official announcement published on the U.S. Department of State’s website.
