YEREVAN — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has denied claims that Armenia is surrendering its sovereignty over transport routes.

“Armenia is ready to fully ensure the safety of the passage of goods, vehicles, and people through its territory,” Pashinyan stated during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan.

“All statements suggesting that Armenia has allegedly agreed, in some document, that third countries should ensure the security of transport links within its territory are simply distortions of reality,” he added. “I would like to note that the same applies to claims that Armenia, at any point, agreed to limit its sovereignty regarding regional communications.”

Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia’s obligations are clear: to guarantee the safety of goods, vehicles, and people on its territory, adding, “We guarantee this.”

In his speech, Pashinyan also highlighted the importance of implementing an effective transport and logistics policy for Armenia.

“In terms of reducing cargo delivery times and finding new alternative routes between Asia and Europe, as well as between the North and the South, I would like to once again draw attention to the Armenian government’s ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project. The goal of the project is to create the most favorable conditions for the development of trade and economic ties among all interested states and significantly enhance the logistics potential in the region, based on full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of countries, as well as the principles of equality and reciprocity,” Pashinyan concluded.
