YEREVAN — Armenian champions Pyunik beat visitors Folgore from San Marino 2-1 in the first leg of UEFA Champions League qualifying round, recording their first victory in the competition since 2007.

The Armenian side led through Vardges Satumyan and substitute Cesar Romero, but José Hirsch responded with a header in the 71st minute for 10-man Folgore to cut Punik’s lead.

The teams will play their second-leg match in San Marino on July 7.

If Pyunik manages to overcome the first barrier in the competition, in the second qualifying round it will face Molde (Norway), with the match days for the first and second legs set for July 14-15 and July 21-22.
