YEREVAN — Yerkir.am has issued a retraction of an earlier report concerning former National Assembly President and current Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan, acknowledging that the information published about him was false and defamatory.
The original report alleged that Simonyan solely owned a house in Yerevan’s Kentron administrative district, owned property abroad, had purchased a residence in the United States, and had subsequently acquired a plot of land along the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway.
The report also claimed that Simonyan had purchased a three-story house in Jrvezh for $215,000 and registered it in the name of his mother, Marine Hovhannisyan. It further alleged that he owned an apartment in a residential complex in Jermuk that had been acquired by his former wife.
“We hereby state that the aforementioned information does not correspond to reality and has defamed Alen Robert Simonyan,” Yerkir.am said in its retraction.
