LOS ANGELES — Qanun virtuoso Marianna Gevorgyan has been named a finalist in the prestigious InterContinental Music Awards (ICMA) competition in the Best Musician category.
This year’s competition attracted approximately 3,500 musicians from more than 100 countries. Gevorgyan is the only finalist representing the Republic of Armenia, proudly showcasing Armenian culture through the qanun, a traditional Armenian musical instrument.
The InterContinental Music Awards is a global music recognition platform that honors musicians from diverse cultural and continental backgrounds. Founded in Los Angeles, the organization supports independent and professional artists worldwide by providing expert evaluation, international exposure, and career-enhancing recognition.
In 2025, Gevorgyan was honored by the Global Icon Awards as a world-renowned virtuoso musician. In 2020, she received the Grand Prize at the World Folk Vision international competition. She has also earned numerous first-place awards at international music competitions.
Gevorgyan is a solo qanun performer with the Tagharan Ancient Music Ensemble of Armenia’s Komitas National Chamber Music Center, under the artistic direction of Sedrak Yerkanyan.
