YEREVAN — The leader of the “Strong Armenia” party, Samvel Karapetyan, does not rule out removing Nikol Pashinyan from the post of prime minister through street protests.
“The elections completely failed and were rigged. If we determine that entering parliament will make it easier to remove Pashinyan, then we will go to parliament. If we determine that we can remove him through street struggle, then we will remove him through street struggle,” Karapetyan told reporters in the courtyard of the court.
Karapetyan insists that Nikol Pashinyan did not win the elections and that if he now forms a government, it will be illegitimate.
“If he is confident that he won, we propose taking the right path. Armenia must have a legitimate government. We propose going to a second round of elections,” Karapetyan said.
According to Samvel Karapetyan, a second round would be easier because the forces that split the vote would no longer be part of the race.
On June 12, the “Strong Armenia” alliance submitted an application to the Central Electoral Commission demanding that the National Assembly election results be declared invalid.
