Armenia Supports Lebanese Government’s Efforts to Restore Stability, Ananyan Says

NEW YORK — On June 11, 2026, Deputy Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations Zhirayr Ananyan participated in a UN Security Council open debate organized under Colombia’s presidency. The debate was titled “Advancing Political Solutions in the Middle East: Mediation and Dialogue for Lasting Peace,” Armenia’s Permanent Mission to the UN reported.

Expressing concern over reports of renewed hostilities in the Middle East, Ananyan emphasized that all UN member states, under the UN Charter, are obligated to seek the resolution of disputes through negotiations, mediation, and other peaceful means of their choosing.

The deputy permanent representative also noted that Armenia supports a peaceful, lasting, just, and comprehensive settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in line with the two-state solution principle.

Armenia’s consistent and full support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity was also reaffirmed. Ananyan added that Armenia is ready to support post-conflict settlement efforts, reconstruction initiatives, and interfaith dialogue.

He also expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, noting that Armenia supports the Lebanese government’s efforts to restore stability in the country.

In this context, Armenia’s deputy permanent representative stressed that those responsible for attacks on and killings of UN peacekeepers must be held accountable.
