Free, Fair and Transparent Elections Were Held in Armenia, Interior Minister Says

YEREVAN — “Free, fair, and transparent elections were held in the Republic of Armenia,” Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan told reporters.

“So far, I have not seen any fact-based or legally valid record presented by any political force,” Sargsyan said, referring to claims by the “Strong Armenia” party, which has appealed to the Central Electoral Commission demanding that the election results be declared invalid, alleging that the vote was held amid widespread violations.

According to the minister, all political forces were provided with proper conditions to conduct their election campaigns.

Interior Minister Sargsyan also addressed ongoing efforts to uncover electoral crimes.

She noted that the work of law enforcement agencies is not limited to election day alone.

According to Sargsyan, the Police of the Interior Ministry continues to carry out operational-search measures aimed at identifying and detaining those who obstructed voters’ electoral rights or exerted undue influence.

Arpine Sargsyan assured that the process is ongoing and that, if sufficient grounds are found, new arrests will follow.
