YEREVAN — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has congratulated opposition leader Péter Magyar on his victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections.
“I extend my warm congratulations to Péter Magyar and the Hungarian people on the election victory. These democratic elections reflect the will of the Hungarian people and their vision for the country’s future,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on X.
In the parliamentary elections held in Hungary on April 12, the opposition Tisza Party secured a decisive victory and, according to preliminary results, is expected to obtain a constitutional supermajority in parliament. Viktor Orbán, who had led the country for 16 years, has already conceded defeat and congratulated Péter Magyar.
According to near-complete vote counts, the Tisza Party is projected to win 138 of 199 seats, enough to form a two-thirds constitutional majority in parliament. Fidesz, led by Viktor Orbán, is expected to secure 55 seats, while the far-right Our Homeland Movement is projected to win 6 seats.
