YEREVAN — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the “Strong Armenia” party, the “Armenia Alliance,” and the Prosperous Armenia Party should not pass the electoral threshold in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Speaking during his closing remarks following discussions on the government’s 2021–2026 program performance in parliament, Pashinyan argued that overcoming the divide between former and current political forces requires a clear political outcome.

“In order to move forward, these political forces should not pass the threshold in the 2026 parliamentary elections,” he said.

The prime minister criticized certain political actors for using derogatory language toward the public, stating that voters must decide whether to accept such attitudes.

Pashinyan also claimed that his administration has led Armenia out of a long-standing political “trap” linked to the Karabakh movement and past governance.

He reiterated his position that the Karabakh movement was a root cause of war, stating: “If there is no Karabakh movement, there is no war.”

According to Pashinyan, the discussions highlighted two key points, including that revisiting the peace agenda remains a central objective of opposition forces associated with former authorities.
