PM Pashinyan: It is Important to Enhance Analytical Capabilities of National Security Service as a Preventive Tool

YEREVAN — Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the National Security Service (NSS) and attended an event marking the Day of the Employee of the National Security Bodies.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister delivered remarks, congratulating those present on the occasion and expressing gratitude for their service to the Republic of Armenia and its people.

“I must note that the National Security Service is one of the most important cornerstones of our state and, in essence, one of the pillars that has critical significance for the security of the Republic of Armenia and the preservation of constitutional order,” Pashinyan said, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government has adopted an agenda centered on the long-term sustainability of the state, placing the Republic of Armenia at the core of all objectives and actions.

“It is very important that the state—regardless of the nature or essence of the political authorities—has a strong foundation and support. This is extremely important to ensure the sustainability and development of our state,” he stressed.

Referring to the economic results recorded since 2018, Pashinyan also highly praised the work of the National Security Service in ensuring the security of economic activity. He noted that the logic and agenda of Armenia’s economic and institutional transformation principles, adopted at the government session earlier that day, would be acceptable both to other state bodies and to the National Security Service.

The Prime Minister spoke about the development of the NSS’s analytical capacities, underscoring that alongside strengthening operational capabilities, it is equally important to enhance analytical capabilities as a preventive tool. In this context, he highlighted the importance of adopting appropriate strategies amid the growing threats of the modern world.

“I once again want to congratulate you all on this day, thank the service as a whole and each employee individually, and also extend my New Year and Christmas greetings to you, your family members, relatives, and loved ones. I wish you success in your continued service and express my satisfaction in stating with confidence that in all the most difficult situations, the National Security Service has always been in its place, has always acted within the scope of its duties, and has addressed all the issues it was meant to address. Of course, situations have varied and have been difficult—sometimes even seeming insurmountable—but the fact that we have overcome all these challenges would not have been possible without the decisive role of the National Security Service,” the Prime Minister concluded.

On the occasion of the Day of the Employee of the National Security Bodies, Nikol Pashinyan awarded NSS staff members with commemorative medals and certificates of honor.
