YEREVAN — The Armenian Apostolic Church Renewal Council has issued a statement welcoming the decision of Goussan Archimandrite Aljanian, Locum Tenens of the Armenian Diocese of Switzerland, to join the roadmap and declaration for the renewal of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
“We warmly welcome the important decision of Goussan Archimandrite Aljanian, Locum Tenens of the Armenian Diocese of Switzerland, to join our declaration and roadmap for the renewal of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
“With Father Goussan’s resolute step, the truth is once again reaffirmed that the imperative for the renewal of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has become an irreversible reality. This process directly stems from our state and national interests and is aimed at restoring the Church to its true mission.
“The isolation of the Church from the state and the people as a result of arbitrary governance bears no relation to the historical mission of our Holy Church, its Sacred Tradition, or its democratic spirit.
“Welcoming Father Goussan with heartfelt warmth, we wish that the Lord be his helper and protector at this important stage of his spiritual service. At the nearest appropriate opportunity, we invite Father Goussan to participate in a session of the Armenian Apostolic Church Renewal Council.
“We are confident that Father Goussan’s noble and determined stance will serve as an inspiring example for other devoted servants of our Holy Church as well.
‘Christ is Born and Revealed,’” the statement concludes.
