KAUNAS – At the Žalgiris Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania, the Armenian national futsal team—making its historic first appearance at the EURO 2026 finals—earned a dramatic comeback victory over the Czech Republic, winning 5–4 in the second round of Group B.
The Czechs opened the scoring in the 2nd minute through David Drozd, but Armenia responded quickly. Vladimir Sanosyan equalized in the 3rd minute, and by the 7th minute Nikita Khromikh had put Armenia ahead. Late in the first half, in the 19th minute, Tomáš Kudelka scored an own goal, extending Armenia’s lead to 3–1.
In the 24th minute, Mikus Francisko pulled one back for the Czech side. However, Armenia regained control in the 31st minute, when Arthur Petrosov and Nikita Khromikh scored within a single minute to make it 5–2, with Khromikh completing his brace.
The Czech team mounted a late push, scoring twice in the 38th and 40th minutes, but it was not enough to change the outcome. Armenia held on for a 5–4 victory.
With this result, the Armenian national futsal team recorded its second consecutive win in the EURO 2026 group stage and, for the first time in history, secured a place in the tournament’s quarterfinals.
In the final round of the group stage, Armenia will face Lithuania. The match is scheduled for January 28 at 22:30 Yerevan time.
