Education Minister Zhanna Andreasyan Participates in Transforming Education Summit+4 in Paris

PARIS — Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan participated in the high-level Transforming Education Summit+4 event in Paris.

The event focused on ensuring the continuity of education during crises and providing safe, high-quality education to children affected by conflict, natural disasters, displacement, and other emergencies.

As part of the event, Andreasyan took part in a panel discussion titled “Achievements of the Transforming Education Summit’s Global Initiatives and Their Relevance Beyond 2030,” where she delivered remarks.

Presenting Armenia’s experience, the minister said that foundational learning, the development of employment-related skills, and lifelong education form a unified policy that begins in early childhood and continues throughout a person’s life. She emphasized that the Armenian government has declared education the “strategy of strategies,” guided by the principle: “Study well to live well.”

“Education must prepare people not only to enter the labor market, but also to adapt to change, participate meaningfully in public life, and build a dignified life,” Andreasyan said.

The minister presented Armenia’s education reforms planned through 2030, highlighting the development of inclusive and learner-centered education, the introduction of competency-based state education standards, the advancement of life skills and digital literacy, and initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of education governance.

According to Andreasyan, the results of these reforms are already being reflected in Armenia’s performance in international assessments.

She also addressed the digital transformation of education and the use of artificial intelligence, noting that Armenia is gradually moving from general digital literacy toward advanced AI education in schools.

The minister stressed that the purpose of education extends beyond preparing people for employment. She said education must also help foster the values of peace, democracy, human rights, respect for diversity, and social responsibility.

“At Armenia’s initiative, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the ‘Education for Peace’ resolution without a vote on June 4, 2026,” Andreasyan said.

Transforming Education Summit+4 is a high-level international platform organized at UNESCO’s initiative. It brings together heads of state, ministers, and international partners to assess the progress made since the 2022 Transforming Education Summit and accelerate education reforms aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4—Quality Education—by 2030.

The summit’s opening session was attended by UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who serves as co-chair of the SDG 4–Education 2030 High-Level Steering Committee.
