Armenia-Turkey Relations: Foreign Minister Mirzoyan Highlights Progress in Diplomatic Dialogue

YEREVAN – In a budget discussion at Armenia’s National Assembly on Thursday, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced ongoing and dynamic dialogue with Turkey. Despite Turkey’s association of its relationship with Armenia to progress in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia pursues an independent, precondition-free dialogue with Turkey. “We have specific agreements, including plans to initially open the border for third-country nationals and diplomatic passport holders,” Mirzoyan stated.

Highlighting the recent collaborations, Mirzoyan cited smaller-scale projects, such as the preservation efforts related to the cultural heritage of Ani, expressing optimism about achieving further advancements soon. He noted that authorities from both countries are evaluating border infrastructure and the condition of the Kars-Gyumri railway, a key transport link between the two nations.

“Our discussions focus on establishing diplomatic relations, opening borders, enhancing transport and other communication channels, and overall normalization,” Mirzoyan concluded, underscoring the potential for future diplomatic breakthroughs.
