Glendale Central Library to Host Novelist Julie Sarkissian

GLENDALE — Author Julie Sarkissian will present her newly published book, Dear Lucy, on Wednesday November 6, 2013, 7pm at the Glendale Central Library Auditorium, 222 East Harvard Street in Glendale. The presentation is in English. Admission is free; seating is limited. Library visitors receive 3 hours FREE parking across the street at The Market Place parking structure with validation at the Loan Desk.

Dear Lucy is a story of an uncommon woman with a unique voice and boundless compassion. A story of faith and friendship, heartbreak, longing and loyalty. Lucy was abandoned by her mother to work on a farm. Where she met Samantha, who was pregnant. Samantha’s baby disappears shortly after his birth. Lucy pledges to help her find him. This is the first time that Lucy was trusted with an important task. Armed with Samantha’s letters and diary, and the company of a talking chicken named Jennifer, Lucy sets out to reunite Samantha with her child.

Julie Sarkissian was born in Pasadena and raised in Orange County. Sarkissian is a graduate of Princeton University, where she won the Francis Leon Paige Award for creative writing. She currently lives and teach in Brooklyn. Currently Sarkissian is working on her second novel. In a interview Sarkissian stated “When Lucy appeared to me, she came as a voice, and that voice was whole and distinct and totally consistent. like my own internal voice. Lucy’s voice was the one voice that wasn’t hard to maintain throughout the story. “
