Hollywood actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio has welcomed new initiatives aimed at recovering endangered species, announced during the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP17) in Yerevan.
In a post on Instagram, DiCaprio emphasized that preventing species from becoming extinct is no longer enough. He stressed the need to bring endangered species back from the brink of extinction and restore their populations.
According to DiCaprio, 17 countries, led by Armenia and Colombia, have joined a new coalition known as CARES (Coalition for Action on the Recovery of Endangered Species), committing to accelerate efforts to prevent species extinction.
Meanwhile, nine philanthropic foundations and organizations have established the Species Recovery Alliance, pledging to allocate more than $500 million over the next five years to support the recovery of endangered species worldwide.
The initiatives represent a significant international effort to strengthen biodiversity conservation and promote coordinated action to reverse the decline of threatened species.
