YEREVAN — Armenia’s natural gas tariffs for consumers will remain unchanged at least until March 2027, barring force majeure circumstances or extraordinary political developments, according to Mesrop Mesropyan, chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC).
Speaking to reporters on November 6, Mesropyan said that even if the price of Russian natural gas supplied to Armenia increases at the border, consumers will not face higher tariffs during the winter months.
Under existing regulations, natural gas tariffs are reviewed twice a year, either at the initiative of the commission or the regulated company.
“There will be no increase in gas prices at least until March. Even if our partners at Gazprom submit a proposal today to raise gas prices, it would be considered during the next six-month review period, by which time winter will be over,” Mesropyan explained.
Asked whether a potential increase in gas prices would affect households this winter, Mesropyan confirmed that consumers would not be affected, except in the extraordinary event that Russia suspends natural gas supplies to Armenia.
He emphasized that the commission has not received any official application requesting a tariff increase.
Mesropyan also noted that the PSRC has the authority to reject any proposed increase if the application lacks sufficient justification.
