NICOSIA, Cyprus — An exhibition titled “Faith and Identity: Relics from the History Museum of Armenia” officially opened on October 9 at the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus.

Initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Cyprus, the exhibition was organized by the Byzantine Museum in cooperation with the History Museum of Armenia and the Armenian Prelature of Cyprus.

The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent religious, government, and cultural figures, including Archbishop Georgios of New Justiniana and All Cyprus; Cyprus Deputy Minister of Culture Clea Hadjistephanou Papaellina; Archbishop Komitas Ohanian, Catholicosal Vicar of the Armenian Church in Cyprus; Vartkes Mahdessian, Representative of the Armenian Community in the Cyprus House of Representatives; Christos Koukliotis, Director General of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation; Ioannis Eliades, Director of the Byzantine Museum; and Davit Poghosyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia.

The event also brought together government and parliamentary officials, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, clergy, representatives of the Armenian community, sponsors, and other distinguished guests.

In her remarks, Armenian Ambassador Inna Torgomyan emphasized that the exhibition represents more than a display of historical artifacts. She described it as a symbol of dialogue between two ancient Christian cultures and a testament to the enduring friendship between Armenia and Cyprus.

The ambassador highlighted the significance of bringing together exceptional artifacts from the History Museum of Armenia and valuable examples of Armenian cultural heritage preserved in Cyprus.

The exhibits from Armenia reflect various periods of the Armenian people’s spiritual and cultural history and traditions, while those provided by the Armenian Prelature of Cyprus illustrate the rich Armenian heritage preserved on the island.

Ambassador Torgomyan expressed her gratitude to the institutions and individuals whose dedication and cooperation made the exhibition possible.

The exhibition is sponsored by CDA Group, Arsen Theofanidis LLC, VISA Concord, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Cyprus.

“Faith and Identity: Relics from the History Museum of Armenia” will remain on display at the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation in Nicosia for six months, through April 9, 2027.
