Pashinyan and Macron Discuss Strategic Partnership, Economic Cooperation and Regional Peace in Paris

PARIS — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris. The meeting was preceded by an official welcoming ceremony for the Armenian prime minister.

President Macron thanked Pashinyan for accepting the invitation to participate in the first International Space Summit. He emphasized the importance of continuing to develop bilateral relations across all areas in accordance with the joint declaration on strategic cooperation between Armenia and France.

Prime Minister Pashinyan thanked Macron for the invitation and warm hospitality and highlighted the importance of deepening Armenian-French cooperation in the space sector. He noted that Armenia is interested in developing more substantive partnerships with France in this field.

The two leaders emphasized that economic cooperation is among the key priorities of the strategic partnership between their countries. In this context, they highlighted the Armenian government’s consistent efforts to diversify the country’s economy.

The sides also welcomed the progress made on the construction of the Bargushat Tunnel, noting that the project has entered a substantive phase. They stressed the importance of beginning construction work as soon as possible.

Pashinyan and Macron also discussed regional developments and underscored the importance of consistently implementing measures aimed at strengthening peace.

Following the meeting, President Macron hosted an official dinner in honor of the heads of state and government participating in the International Space Summit.
