Armenian Religious Leaders and Ambassador Narek Mkrtchyan Meet with President Trump at the White House

WASHINGTON, DC — The Embassy of Armenia in the United States, in cooperation with the White House Faith Office, organized a meeting between Armenian religious leaders in the United States, Armenian Ambassador Narek Mkrtchyan, and U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Armenian delegation also met with Paula White-Cain, head of the White House Faith Office and a longtime spiritual adviser to President Trump, and Jennifer S. Korn, director of the White House Faith Office.

The meeting was attended by Archbishop Hovnan Derderian and Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Primates of the Western and Eastern Dioceses of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the United States; Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian and Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelates of the Eastern and Western Prelacies of the Armenian Apostolic Church under the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia; Bishop Mikael Mouradian, Eparch of the Armenian Catholic Church in the United States and Canada; and Rev. Hendrik Shanazarian, senior pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on relations between Armenia and the United States, the Christian and civilizational ties between the two peoples, religious freedom, and efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.

They emphasized the importance of establishing peace and strengthening mutual understanding among peoples, highlighting the role of faith and spiritual values in that process.

The Armenian religious leaders offered a collective prayer, asking for God’s blessing upon the people of Armenia and the United States, their well-being and future, and the friendship between the two countries.

In their prayer, the religious leaders also addressed ongoing efforts to establish peace, highlighting President Trump’s contribution to the peace process involving Armenia.
