LOS ANGELES — UCLA Library and USC Dornsife Institute of Armenian Studies to present “Archives of Displacement: A Zine-Making Workshop,” an afternoon of archival exploration and creative practice.
The program will feature a presentation of Collective Voices, a zine by the Institute, alongside a digital display of Armenian archival materials from UCLA Library. Published in 2025, the zine features poetry, essays, photography and artwork that honor the cultural heritage and memory of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
Institute Managing Director Maral Tavitian and inaugural Poet Laureate in the City of Glendale and lecturer in UCLA Writing Programs Raffi Wartanian will then guide participants in reflecting on personal and collective histories through the creation of their own original zines.
All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. Participants are invited to bring photographs, letters, documents or other personal archives to incorporate into their work.
