Armenia’s GDP Grows 6.7% in Second Quarter to AMD 2.83 Trillion

YEREVAN — Armenia’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.7% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, according to data released by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

Economic growth accelerated from the first quarter of 2026, when GDP increased by 5.2% year-on-year. Compared with the first quarter of this year, the economy expanded by 19.2% in the second quarter.

Armenia’s nominal GDP totaled AMD 2.835 trillion in the second quarter. Of this amount, AMD 2.524 trillion was generated by gross value added, accounting for 89% of GDP.

Among major sectors, the highest growth rates were recorded in administrative and support service activities, which expanded by 25.5%; financial and insurance activities, up 22.4%; transportation and storage, up 22.2%; mining and quarrying, up 21.5%; construction, up 20%; and information and communications, up 15%.

At the same time, agriculture, forestry and fishing contracted by 15.3% year-on-year and accounted for 6.6% of GDP.

Wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, which accounted for 14.6% of GDP, declined by 0.2%. Manufacturing grew by 2.2%.

GDP per capita in the second quarter of 2026 stood at AMD 913,892, equivalent to approximately $2,468 or €2,122.

Economic Growth Forecasts for Armenia

Armenia’s 2026 state budget projects economic growth of 5.4%.

According to the Central Bank of Armenia’s second-quarter monetary policy report, GDP growth for 2026 is projected at between 4.1% and 4.5%, depending on the scenario.

International financial institutions and rating agencies have issued the following 2026 growth forecasts for Armenia: the World Bank, 5.3%; International Monetary Fund, 5.25%; Asian Development Bank, 5.5%; European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, 5.5%; Eurasian Development Bank, 6%; S&P Global Ratings, 5.3%; and Fitch Ratings, 5.2%.
