Armenian Government Begins TRIPP Ratification Process; Agreement to Be Sent to Constitutional Court

YEREVAN — The ratification of the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States concerning the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, known as TRIPP, has been included on the agenda of the Armenian government’s July 16 meeting.

Under the non-reportable draft decision, the government proposes approving a bill to ratify the agreement.

The framework agreement was signed in Washington on June 1, 2026, and in Yerevan on June 4, 2026.

The draft government decision provides for submitting the agreement to the Constitutional Court to determine whether the obligations stipulated in it comply with Armenia’s Constitution.

Should the Constitutional Court find the obligations constitutional, the government’s legislative initiative will be submitted to the National Assembly in accordance with established procedure.

Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan will be appointed as the government’s representative before the Constitutional Court.

According to the explanatory note, adoption of the law will ensure the completion of the procedures necessary for the framework agreement on Armenian-U.S. strategic cooperation concerning TRIPP to enter into force.

The bill was drafted by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is in line with the government’s priority of comprehensively developing relations with the United States.
