Armenia and Azerbaijan Border Demarcation Commissions Hold 13th Meeting in Aghveran

AGHVERAN  — On April 29, 2026, the 13th meeting of the commissions on the delimitation of the state border and border security between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in Aghveran, Armenia. The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan of Armenia and Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev of Azerbaijan.

It was noted with satisfaction that the 13th meeting of the commissions once again took place on the territory of one of the parties—this time in the Republic of Armenia, in Aghveran.

During the meeting, the sides held detailed discussions on organizational and technical matters related to the border delimitation process.

The parties agreed on and exchanged draft texts of the following guidelines concerning the implementation of delimitation work:

• Guidelines on the procedures governing the work of expert groups during the delimitation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan
• Guidelines on the procedures for creating maps for the delimitation of the state border
• Guidelines on the procedures for drafting and publishing documents related to the delimitation of the state border

The sides agreed to submit these guidelines to their respective governments for formal approval.

Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

It was noted that the transit of goods to the Republic of Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan has been successfully implemented and is ongoing. It was also highlighted that Azerbaijan is supplying petroleum products to Armenia, reflecting the gradual formation of trade and economic ties between the two countries.

A separate discussion was held with the participation of representatives of business communities from both sides, focusing on the development of trade and economic cooperation, mutual supply of goods and services, and transit transportation.

Special emphasis was placed on the fact that the achieved results have been made possible thanks to the political will of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a corresponding protocol and agreed to determine the date of the next meeting in Azerbaijan through working-level consultations, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier that morning, an aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines arrived in Yerevan, carrying the Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
