Trump Invites Pashinyan to Join Peace Council as Founding Member

YEREVAN — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received an official invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Council as a founding member, Prime Minister’s spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan announced.

“Prime Minister Pashinyan has accepted the proposal with appreciation and a sense of responsibility, reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to advancing peace,” Baghdasaryan wrote.

The Peace Council is a newly established international platform, officially announced by President Trump on January 16. The body’s primary mandate is to oversee post-war reconstruction, demilitarization, and the promotion of regional stability in the Gaza Strip.

Trump has presented the initiative as an alternative to the United Nations—describing it as a more practical and effective framework that would operate directly under the auspices of his administration.

According to Trump’s statements, the Council is intended to be “the most powerful body ever created.” Its charter is scheduled to be signed on January 22, 2026, in Davos.

The Council’s executive leadership is expected to include U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, presidential adviser Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and World Bank President Ajay Banga.
