WASHINGTON, DC — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a new 36-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) for Armenia worth approximately $175 million.
In an official statement released in the United States, the IMF noted that in recent years Armenia has successfully overcome numerous challenges while maintaining macroeconomic and financial stability. The new Stand-By program is aimed at supporting the continuity of the government’s reform agenda and promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
The statement also refers to Armenia’s 2026 state budget, which clearly defines the country’s priority spending needs, including in the areas of social protection, healthcare, and education. Over the medium term, the careful prioritization of expenditures and an effective tax policy are expected to continue supporting the gradual strengthening of fiscal discipline, with the goal of keeping public debt at a manageable and sustainable level.
