WASHINGTON, DC — The ambassadors of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the United States participated in a discussion of the TRIPP (“Trump Route”) project at an event organized by the U.S.–Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce.
Also attending the event were the ambassadors of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in Washington, along with senior U.S. government officials and business representatives. During the closed-door discussion, participants examined the role of the TRIPP initiative in strengthening regional connectivity and establishing a sustainable U.S. economic presence along the Middle Corridor.
“With the support of the U.S. administration, the peace agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia in August represents a historic breakthrough. TRIPP is a tool to ensure the sustainability of this peace by transforming a transit route into a driver of prosperity,” said Vinay Chawla, Director of the Office of International Peace Operations at the U.S. Department of State and Special Envoy for International Peace.
He also emphasized that American companies and capital are essential to realizing this vision, noting that the U.S. administration seeks to ensure their participation at the negotiating table.
Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan, stressed that U.S. involvement would help ensure the initiative delivers tangible benefits to the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and other regions.
“I welcome cooperation with our Azerbaijani partners, as discussions are now focused on concrete development projects. Such collaboration is vital for achieving real economic and social results,” Mkrtchyan said.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim noted that the leaders’ summit held in Washington this August played a historic role in advancing the regional peace process. He also underscored the importance of ensuring the success of the TRIPP project as a key component of the Middle Corridor.
