The Calouste Gulbenkian Translation Series- Titles Selected and Call for Translators

LISBON — The Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has embarked on The Calouste Gulbenkian Translation Series which will make seminal texts in the humanities and the social sciences available in Armenian, as well as significant Armenian texts available in other languages. At this stage, we are happy to announce the list of books which will be translated from foreign languages into Armenian, and to call for potential translators to submit their interest to us. Through these translations, we are aiming to advance intellectual discourse in Armenian, and to contribute to the development of the Armenian language. The following 12 texts will be translated in the first instance:

1- Giorgio Agamben, Quel che resta di Auschwitz. L’archivio e il testimone (Homo sacer III).
2- Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism.

4- Judith Butler, Ernesto Laclau and Slavoj Zizek, Contingency, Hegemony, Universality: Contemporary Dialogues on the Left.
5- Simone de Beauvoir, Le deuxième sexe.
6- Gilles Deleuze, Différence et répétition.
7- Jacques Derrida, L’écriture et la différence.
8- Michel Foucault, L’archéologie du savoir.

Through this Call, we are seeking to select translators for this Series, and to augment our pool of qualified translators. We ask potential translators to contact us only if they wish to translate title(s) from the list above, from the original language into Armenian (Western or Eastern).
