YEREVAN — An open session in the Valery Permyakov case is scheduled for August 12, TASS reports referring to Alyona Katkalo, the court press secretary.
In her words, the fifth garrison military court in Yerevan that is under the jurisdiction of the North Caucasus Military Court extended the pretrial detention term to the Russian servicemen who is charged with killing six members of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri.
He is also charged with deserting with a gun and several other gun-related offenses.
On January 12, Valery Permyakov stood guard, but he left his duty, went to the city, rushed into one house and shot dead six sleeping members of the family and wounded a baby, who died later in a hospital.
Permyakov was arrested on the same day when he attempted to cross the border and enter Turkey’s territory.
Currently Translations of the case files are underway, according to Yerem Sargsyan, the victims’ legal successor.
The case consists of 9 volumes, each of which includes 250 pages. After the case files are translated, the attorneys will still need time to familiarize with the files, and make motions, if necessary.
