Armenian Peacekeepers Start UNIFIL Mission in Lebanon

BEITRUT — Lebanon hosted the ceremony of the Armenian platoon’s joining the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission and the raising of the Armenian flag, the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.

A unit of 32 Armenian peacekeepers arrived in Lebanon on November 26. As part of the Italian contingent, the Armenian peacekeepers will participate in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. The Armenian peacekeepers in Lebanon are under the Italian command.

Welcoming the Armenian peacekeepers, Italian Army Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, UNIFIL Joint Forces Commander, highlighted the significance of their participation in the peacekeeping mission.

A report about the ceremony was also posted on the official website of the Italian Armed Forces Headquarters.
