On November 22, Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan during his formal visit to the Los Angeles area concurrent to the annual Armenia Fund telethon, met with members of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party Western USA Executive Committee.
After welcoming remarks, the discussion focused on the current state of affairs of the Republic of Artsakh; primarily how could the Diaspora be helpful in the attainment and completion of various thriving projects in the republic, and alleviate the difficulties facing the Artsakh citizenry. The SDHP delegation stressing the security and future of the Republic relies on its economic growth and self-sufficiency.
The President stressed the need for continued support in building the Republics day to day infrastructure through projects funded by Armenia Fund, as well as joint ventures between the State and private enterprise such as the establishment of hydroelectric plants which by 2012 will have the potential to completely satisfy the electricity requirements of the republic, with the possibility of export.
