YEREVAN — The United States has donated approximately $1.4 million worth of vehicles and specialized equipment to the Border Guard Troops of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS), strengthening the country’s border security capabilities, including along routes associated with the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, the donation was provided through the U.S. Department of State’s Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program.
The handover ceremony was attended by Shauna Wilson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Security Assistance; U.S. Chargé d’Affaires David Allen; and Colonel Roman Sahakyan, Chief of Staff of Armenia’s NSS Border Guard Troops.
The assistance package includes vehicles, ambulances, protective equipment, maintenance tools, and advanced information technology equipment for the Ayrum border crossing.
The equipment is expected to increase the crossing’s operational capacity, strengthen border management capabilities, and support the ongoing modernization of Armenia’s border forces.
In a statement, the U.S. Embassy emphasized that the donation reflects the strong partnership between Armenia and the United States in the field of border security.
According to the embassy, American assistance will help Armenia’s border forces protect the country’s sovereignty while ensuring the safe movement of people and goods as Armenian authorities assume greater responsibility for securing their borders.
The assistance also supports security along routes important to regional connectivity, including those associated with the TRIPP initiative.
The United States reaffirmed its commitment to helping Armenia develop a properly equipped, modern, and professional border force, contributing to a safer and more prosperous future for Armenia, the region, and the United States.
