NVIDIA Expands Operations in Armenia, Eyes Broader CIS Market

YEREVAN — American technology giant NVIDIA has announced plans to expand its operations in Armenia, positioning the country as a regional hub for developing projects across other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. NVIDIA Vice President Rev Lebaredian shared the announcement in a LinkedIn post.

“We are building on our investments in Armenia’s AI ecosystem and expanding those efforts across the region. Our recent visit to Kazakhstan with Jensen was another step in that direction. Other countries are next,” Lebaredian wrote, referring to NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang.

According to Lebaredian, Armenia possesses the skilled workforce necessary to play a leading role in the company’s regional expansion.

“Armenia has the talented professionals who can help lead this growth. We need people here who can connect that potential with opportunities beyond its borders,” he stated.

Lebaredian also announced that NVIDIA is recruiting a Developer Relations Manager in Armenia to oversee relationships with software developers throughout the CIS region.

One of the major projects supporting NVIDIA’s regional expansion is Firebird’s artificial intelligence data center in Armenia. Announced in June 2025 with an initial investment plan of approximately $500 million, the project entered its first operational phase in August 2026 with the launch of a new facility in Hrazdan.

Developed with technological support from NVIDIA and Dell Technologies, the Firebird data center is initially designed to accommodate 6,144 high-performance NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs). These processors provide the computing power required to develop, train, and deploy artificial intelligence systems, serving Armenian and international companies and researchers.

Firebird plans to significantly expand its Hrazdan facility, increasing the number of installed GPUs to more than 70,000 and its infrastructure capacity to 300 megawatts by the end of 2027. The company previously announced plans to increase its total investment in Armenia to $4 billion.

Beyond Armenia, Firebird is developing similar AI infrastructure in Kazakhstan with NVIDIA’s technological support. In partnership with the Kazakh telecommunications company Kazakhtelecom, the project involves constructing a large-scale artificial intelligence data center. The first phase is already under construction, with operations scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.

According to the Kazakh government, agreements signed in June 2026 between Firebird and its Kazakh partners envision approximately $10 billion in investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
