Armenian Government Approves Draft 2027 State Budget

YEREVAN — The Armenian government has approved the draft state budget for 2027, which envisages approximately 4.1 trillion drams in expenditures, equivalent to about $11.12 billion at the current exchange rate.

Overall government spending is projected to increase by 12.24 percent compared with this year, while the 2027 budget deficit is expected to amount to approximately $1.29 billion.

Approximately 620 billion drams, or about $1.7 billion, is planned for the Ministry of Defense. Defense spending is projected to increase by approximately 9.5 percent compared with this year.

The Ministry of Health is expected to receive approximately 350 billion drams, or about $960 million, representing an increase of approximately 65 percent in healthcare spending.

Approximately 1.1 trillion drams, or about $3 billion, is planned for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, whose budget is expected to increase by approximately 9.2 percent.

The Ministry of Finance is expected to receive approximately 447 billion drams. The majority of these funds will be directed toward servicing the national debt, including principal repayments and interest payments. The ministry’s budget is projected to increase by approximately 2 percent.

Approximately 440 billion drams is planned for the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, representing an increase of approximately 3.8 percent.

The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure is expected to receive approximately 363 billion drams, or about $995 million, with expenditures increasing by approximately 11.6 percent.

Approximately 145 billion drams, or about $400 million, is planned for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representing an increase of approximately 40.4 percent.

The Ministry of Economy is expected to receive approximately 85 billion drams, or about $230 million, an increase of approximately 12 percent.

The draft 2027 state budget must also receive approval from Armenia’s National Assembly before it can be formally adopted.
