Armenia Introduces New School Buses to Transport Students to Newly Built Regional Schools

YEREVAN — Armenia has acquired new school buses to transport students to newly constructed schools in the country’s regions.

“As part of the program to ensure access to quality educational services, the necessary road infrastructure and school transportation services will be provided to transport students to newly constructed educational institutions,” an official statement said.

Under the program, the transportation arrangements are expected to become operational for five communities. Children from Getap in Aragatsotn Province will attend Aragatsavan Secondary School No. 1; students from Tsapatagh in Gegharkunik Province will attend Jil Secondary School; children from Acharkut in Tavush Province will attend the school in Kirants; students from Aknaghbyur in Tavush Province will attend the school in Lusadzor; and children from Tigranashen in Ararat Province will attend the Paruyr Sevak Educational Complex.

According to the statement, Getap currently has 13 schoolchildren. Aragatsavan is 9.5 kilometers away, with an estimated travel time of 11 minutes. Tsapatagh has 27 schoolchildren, while Jil is 10.6 kilometers away, with a travel time of approximately nine minutes.

Tigranashen currently has no students attending its local school, while 11 children from the community attend the Paruyr Sevak Educational Complex. The school is four kilometers away, with an estimated travel time of 10 minutes.

Acharkut has 10 schoolchildren. Kirants is 2.8 kilometers away, with a travel time of approximately four minutes. Aknaghbyur has 42 children enrolled in its school, including six preschool students. Lusadzor is five kilometers away, with an estimated travel time of 10 minutes.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan and the ministers responsible for education, science, culture and sports, as well as territorial administration and infrastructure, inspected the new buses and reviewed their safety standards.

Pashinyan emphasized the importance of ensuring road safety and appropriate qualifications for drivers responsible for transporting children. He also stressed that drivers should maintain a professional appearance, including appropriate attire.
