Pashinyan and Erdoğan Discuss Armenia-Turkey Normalization in New York

NEW YORK — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed the Armenia-Turkey normalization process and the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries during a meeting in New York.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. According to the Armenian government, the two leaders emphasized the importance of advancing the normalization process and expressed readiness to give fresh impetus to bilateral relations.

The sides stressed the need to consistently pursue efforts aimed at expanding trade and economic relations, establishing ties between the business communities of the two countries, and jointly restoring the historic Ani Bridge.

Pashinyan and Erdoğan also exchanged views on regional issues.

The two leaders discussed peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that it would have a significant impact on the development of regional cooperation. In this context, they emphasized the importance of implementing the TRIPP project and unblocking regional transport links.

The foreign ministers of Armenia and Turkey also participated in the meeting. The Turkish presidency separately said Erdoğan stressed the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in bilateral relations and invited Pashinyan to attend the COP31 Leaders’ Summit in Turkey.
