WASHINGTON — Representatives of the foreign ministries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States met in Washington on August 10, marking the first anniversary of the Washington Peace Summit.
The meeting brought together Armenia’s Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker.
Kostanyan highly praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal contribution both to the organization of last year’s summit and to efforts during the past year to institutionalize peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the positive developments recorded so far, regional infrastructure projects, and measures aimed at strengthening mutual trust.
The participants also emphasized the importance of addressing outstanding humanitarian issues.
