USTDA to Continue Working with Armenia on Several Projects, Karl Kress Says

WASHINGTON, DC — The United States Trade and Development Agency will continue working with Armenia on the development of several projects, USTDA Regional Director for Europe and Eurasia Karl Kress said during a press briefing.

A journalist noted that Armenia’s nuclear energy program had long been linked to Russia’s Rosatom and asked whether Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s victory in Armenia’s recent elections had changed the situation. The journalist also asked whether USTDA was negotiating with Armenia over the possible delivery of small modular reactors.

Kress responded: “We have been working with Armenia for some time on developing a number of project concepts in the country. That work is continuing after the elections in the same manner as it did before them.

“At this point, we at USTDA have not observed any changes in that direction or in the approaches being taken. As I mentioned, we have been cooperating with Armenia for some time on the development of several projects, and we hope that it will be possible to announce some new developments in the near future.”
