YEREVAN — The Armenian government will introduce support measures for the export of greenhouse products, including tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, and flowers, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced.
In a Facebook post, Papoyan said the Ministry of Economy will present the support program at the June 4 cabinet meeting.
“We will also reimburse customs duties on fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers exported to the European Union,” the minister wrote.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the government would implement assistance programs whenever exporters face unfair barriers to trade.
“If peppers spoil, if roses spoil, the government will compensate for those losses. As a result, pepper production in Armenia will increase, and exports will grow as well,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister added that Armenia is already working to develop new export markets and that government assistance will be provided whenever obstacles are unrelated to product quality.
