LONDON — At the invitation of the “Nor Serount” Cultural Union, a unique theatrical monologue based on William Shakespeare’s “Richard III” was performed in London.
The leading role was performed by Honored Artist of Armenia Aram Hovhannisyan, who delivered an outstanding interpretation of this complex and psychologically intense character. His performance received a warm reception and high praise from London’s culturally engaged audience.
The production has already been presented in several countries, including Albania, Macedonia, and Poland, and has been awarded top prizes at international theatre festivals, including the Grand Prix (Grand Prix Excellent Performance).
At the conclusion of the performance, Dr. Vasken Kassemdjian, President of the “Nor Serount” Cultural Union, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in promoting and sharing Armenian culture internationally.
Dr. Kassemdjian stated: “Today we witnessed not only a high-level theatrical performance, but also a profound re-interpretation of Shakespeare’s immortal work. Aram Hovhannisyan’s performance was exceptional in its psychological precision, expressive power, and stage presence. He succeeded in bringing Richard III’s complex and contradictory character to life, making it accessible, vivid, and relevant to contemporary audiences.
This production is a vivid example of our cultural mission, building a bridge between Armenian theatrical art and international stages. We are proud that such high-quality art is presented under the auspices of our organization, receiving international recognition and sincere appreciation from audiences.”
Special thanks are extended by the “Nor Serount” Cultural Union to His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, Primate of the Diocese of Great Britain and Ireland, for providing the excellent conditions and support at the newly built diocesan hall for this performance.
At the same time, we are pleased to reaffirm the invitation to participate in the annual “Summer Festival” in London, which will take place on July 19, 2026. Within the framework of the festival, a new production is planned: “Sayat-Nova: The Armenian Lyricist of the World”, a five-character stage project dedicated to the creative legacy of the great Armenian poet and ashugh Sayat-Nova.
