YEREVAN — Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee says factual evidence has been obtained in a criminal case involving alleged election crimes.
According to the committee, individuals engaged in commercial activity in Russia allegedly used the financial dependence of several Armenian citizens working abroad to prepare their transportation to Armenia. The committee says the plan was carried out with the involvement of a supporter of the Strong Armenia party and others, with the aim of forcing those citizens to participate in the National Assembly elections and vote for the party indicated by them.
The Anti-Corruption Committee urged all citizens, including Armenians living abroad, to strictly comply with election laws, refrain from any unlawful influence on voters’ will, and avoid actions that could disrupt the normal course of the electoral process.
The committee said it will conduct a comprehensive and strict review of all information and take all measures provided by law to fully uncover criminal acts, regardless of where they were committed or who was involved.
