Property Worth Approximately $773 Million Returned to State Ownership

YEREVAN — In 2025, court rulings based on lawsuits filed by the Prosecutor’s Office within its mandate to protect state and community interests, along with prosecutorial interventions, resulted in the return of 124 properties to the ownership or possession of the Republic of Armenia and local communities.

These included kindergartens, a cultural center, a stadium, a natural monument, parks, and land plots. The cadastral value of these properties, approximated to market value, amounts to around 66.9 billion drams (approximately $176.8 million).

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that it analyzed data from 2018 to 2025 concerning asset recovery through criminal proceedings, concluded court cases, civil claims, settlements, prosecutorial measures, and—since 2023—the application of confiscation mechanisms for illicitly obtained assets.

Overall, assets and funds totaling approximately 291.7 billion drams (around $773 million) have been returned to state and community ownership during this period. Notably, 65.8% of this amount (around 193 billion drams, or $504 million) was recovered in the past three years (2023–2025).

In December 2025, the Prosecutor’s Office also announced the start of demolition efforts targeting illegally constructed buildings on land plots below the permitted shoreline level of Lake Sevan. Since then, 86 illegal structures on 34 such plots have been demolished, and two contracts have been terminated by the Sevan National Park.
